Black Lives Matter

We are multiple congregations, yet one church, united through our love of God and neighbor.

We may not be united by our backgrounds, skin colors, or pasts.

As we have all walked different paths in our lives.

Some of us have traveled from a different country to settle here.

Some of us will never understand what it’s like to be BIPOC ( https://www.dictionary.com/e/acronyms/bipoc/ ) in America.

Our realities are not the same.

We are brought together in love, revealed through Jesus Christ.

We are united in God - who loves everyone, with no exceptions.

In order for all lives to matter, Black Lives HAVE to Matter!

We cannot stay silent because silence is violence.

We cannot continue to preach God’s love if we ignore brutality and oppression.

We commit to living out our core value of justice as a Church of the Nazarene:

“As people who are consecrated to God, we share God’s love for the lost and God’s compassion for the poor and broken. The Great Commandment (Matthew 22:36-40) and the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20) move us to engage the world in evangelism, compassion, and justice. To this end we are committed to inviting people to faith, to caring for those in need, to standing against injustice and with the oppressed.”

As believers in Christ we mourn and strive to be in solidarity with George Floyd and the far too many lives ended by violence and systemic racism. Our pastors will continue to preach of justice, equity, and the love for our neighbors. Change starts at home; this is our home. We vow to continue to educate ourselves to better serve our community and be people of God who welcome change and practice peace.
